I used to manually drag photos into folders named things like ‘Birthday maybe 2021?’ — facial recognition changed everything and I got my weekends back.

Before I touched a single folder I learned the hard way — always back up first. Lost 600 photos in 2019 because I got cocky. Never again.

Found three old cameras in a closet with memory cards still inside — turns out they had photos from my daughter's first steps that never made it to any computer.

Spent an entire Saturday hunting for the right cable to connect an old camera. A universal card reader would have saved me four hours and a lot of swearing.

My mom handed me a shoebox with 400 prints from my daughter's first two years. Photographing them with my phone looked terrible, so I finally got a real scanner.

After organizing 50,000 photos I realized they only existed on one hard drive. The thought of a house fire or a spilled coffee kept me up at night until I set up cloud backup.

Organizing made me realize I had thousands of incredible photos trapped on screens. Started printing the best ones and my house finally feels like people actually live here.

Once everything was organized by face and date, I finally made real albums instead of letting 50,000 photos rot on a hard drive where nobody sees them.

Sorting by face surfaced photos I'd completely forgotten about — my daughter at two years old covered in spaghetti sauce deserved a frame, not a forgotten folder.

Tried organizing 50,000 photos on a seven-year-old laptop and it crashed three times in one afternoon. Learned the hard way that your hardware matters as much as your software.

Realized I needed a dedicated spot for scanning, sorting cards, and connecting drives — my kitchen table wasn't cutting it after my daughter spilled orange juice on a pile of prints.
