Cookie O'Gorman
Indie author, highly recommend her YA books.
The first book I read from Cookie, and I fell in love! Sweet romance between a girl who loves Harry Potter and her handsome, childhood bestie soccer star. Too many cute moments!
Adorkable by Cookie O'Gorman
Awkward girl meets high school star athlete - cute story reminiscent of the golden early 2000's rom com era. Interesting fact: the heroine is the daughter of the couple in Cookie's first book (Adorkable)!
Wallflower by Cookie O'Gorman
It's possibly my favorite in the series! Girl with goals meets misunderstood bad boy. What's not to love?
The Good Girl's Guide to Being Bad by Cookie O'Gorman
Meg Cabot
You can't have a YA author romcom list, and not feature Meg Cabot! Most known for her Princess Diaries series, I've given a few recs that I think are far better.
I've re-read this book so many times during my teens, and as an adult. Ordinary girl saves the president of the US and starts dating his son. So cute, and the character is so relatable.
All-American Girl by Meg Cabot
Meg Cabot can write historicals too! Rich orphan girl falls for best friend's brother (but not before he falls for her first). She's a little naive but in a likeable way.
Nicola and the Viscount by Meg Cabot
Not your typical YA romance! Girl who can see ghosts crushes on a ghost. Very slow burn, with much of the romance developing in later books BUT if you're looking for that first butterflies feeling when you meet someone you like, read this.
The Mediator: Shadowland (Book 1 by Meg Cabot)
John Green
Okay, only read one book from John Green so can only vouch for that one specifically!
Not your typical romance, but one of the most romantic books of all. Be warned: you will cry 😢
The Fault in Our Stars
Jenny Han
First book is always the best! Not sure if this beats the movie, but a good read if you're looking for a sweet romance.
To All The Boys I've Loved Before - Jenny Han
Series are great because it's a glimpse into the "happily ever after". First book is always best, but read this to finish the series.
P.S I Still Love You (Book 2) by Jenny Han
Last book in the series! Coming of age as Lara Jean finishes high school and thinks about her and Peter's future.
