items Here are a few mommy- (and kid) approved play-learning apps that my daughter loves to play and I have found to be great with teaching a whole host of topics from letter sounds, reading to STEM type activities, problem solving and emotions.
I love that these allow for a safe screen-time environment for my daughter where she can play independently and allow her to explore and become curious about learning (without worrying about inappropriate content or ads).
I've included some apps that are free, some paid and some with a free tier or free trial.

I love this app so much! I've been using it for my daughter since her newborn years and she is now six and we still use it for bedtime.
Confession - I listened to it so much that their stories/music help put me to sleep too. I have a favorite one that I put on during my work commute to take a short nap on the train and it works like a charm.

This is technically a website but if you need worksheets or learning activities for your little ones, this site has it all.
It's easy to filter what you need from Pre-K all the way to 8th grade as well as by learning topic (math, reading & writing, scients, art, lesson plans - they really have it all!)
What I love the most is that they have so many different themes/activity sheets for the same learning topic, you can choose something that your little one is interested in. E.g. Counting with cars
The only con is that this is a paid site about the same as a Netflix subscription which for me is very much worth it for what you get.
I have the annual subscription which saves you a lot more versus the monthly plan but I think they have a free trial so you can test it out first.

Another super fun learning app! This one has a cute learning friends that interact with your little one and learning through play is offered in many different ways and different topics too.
There are songs, music and learning games for math, language, science, reading, writing, learning about emotions, coloring, STEM etc.
There is a free and paid version for the app. The free version will give you a limited number of games/activities each day but refreshes daily.
I also love that I can trust this app to allow my daughter to learn while playing independently and safely, there are no ads, even when you aren't on the paid subscription.

Lingokids - Play and Learn (Limited Free with Daily Refresh)
Technically not an app but I do love switching things up because I feel like listening to kid's podcasts kind of works a different area of the brain, where they can listen to audio and use their imagination to ‘see’ what's happening.
Plus I don't feel guilty about it since it's not ‘screen’ time and they are learning something fun!
This podcasts has characters from the Lingokids app and their stories centre around different life lessons as the characters interact with each other e.g. learning to share, dealing with emotions, learning about different concepts, etc.
They have a fantastic series about different careers featuring working professionals and often will do current topics, e.g. they had a whole series about the Paris Olympics.

They have different interactive games and activities to help your little ones learning counting, reading, problem solving and phonics. Very cute and colorful graphics and characters!

This is a simple pay one price download (no subscriptions!) that uses games to help your todder or preschoolers learn their numbers, counting and basic math. They don't add new ones but there were enough mini-games to get my little one started.
When she was younger, I remember one day at the park, my daughter spotted giant dice. To my surprise, she instantly named the numbers on each side without counting. That’s when I knew she was really learning from this app.
I think this app has since added additional options and games but I only downloaded this math one and was very happy with it.
