Horror movies that I think are incredible. Whether it's the story, the acting or the atmosphere, these movies are at the top of any horror list for me. Perfect for spooky season or a

My favorite werewolf movie. Also a great girl coming of age movie!
Ginger Snaps (2000)
Â
This weird little movie means so much to me. I relate to May (yes I know that's weird 😂). But as someone who's always been the weird little outcast, I felt seen.
May (2002)

What can I say about this one? It's a classic and I love it. Plus Rick Baker effects!!
The Thing (1982)
Â
Another classic. This first movie is damn near perfect.
Scream (1996)
Â
Another great werewolf movie. The effects in this are incredible.
An American Werewolf in London (1981)
Â
This one is so fun. Definitely a bit on the cheesier side but I have a good time watching it.
Re-Animator (1985)
Â
I love the first one but the second one is where this franchise shines. It's scary, gory, and funny. Bruce Campbell is great, equally good at being horrified and the physical comedy.
Evil Dead II (1987)
Â
Such a stunning movie. Any fans of Gothic horror will love this. I watch it every fall.
Crimson Peak (2015)
Â
One could argue this isn't necessarily horror but I'm including it anyway. It's truly a unique movie when you think about it. There really isn't anything quite like it.
Beetlejuice (1988)
Â
A more modern horror movie that I recently loved. I'm not going to say much because this is one that's best to go in blind.
Barbarian (2022)
Â
Another newish one that I loved. So well acted.
The Black Phone (2021)
Â
Another classic. It holds up so well.
The Shining (1980)
Â
I love this weird little movie. It has the late great Dick Miller. He plays a struggling artist and turns to darker ways to make his art successful...
A Bucket of Blood (1959)
Â
A lesser known slasher, Cherry Falls is nothing new or reinventive but man, is it a lot of fun. I had recorded this off tv back in the day. It stars the late, great Brittany Murphy. Classic high school slasher movie.
