My dog ignored three different beds before I realized the problem — they weren't soft or warm enough to compete with my couch. These ones finally won him over.

Before I broke the furniture habit completely, I needed something to save my couch from total destruction. Most covers slid off in ten minutes — these didn't.

Half the battle was giving my pets somewhere equally warm and soft right next to the furniture. Putting a great blanket on the floor beside the couch changed everything.

Positive reinforcement only got me so far. Adding a couple of gentle deterrents to the mix is what finally made the couch less appealing than the alternatives.

Getting my pets to their own bed was step one. Keeping them there meant making it smell right and feel like home base.

Part of why I kept letting my dog on the furniture was that pet stuff looked terrible in my apartment. Finding pieces that actually fit my space made me commit to the boundaries.

Before I solved the problem, my furniture took a beating. These helped me undo months of pet hair, scratches, and mystery stains I'd rather not identify.
