My hamstrings were so tight I couldn't reach the floor in forward fold without rounding my back like a scared cat. Adding blocks brought the floor to me and suddenly the stretch was in the right place.

Foam blocks kept sliding on my hardwood floor during lunges. Switched to cork and the grip difference was immediate — finally felt planted instead of skating around.

That moment in class when the teacher says ‘grab your foot’ and your foot is approximately three miles away — straps closed that gap and made me stop dreading seated poses.

Backbends terrified me because I had zero trust in my spine. Rolling over a wheel slowly let me build that range of motion without the panic of just dropping backward and hoping for the best.

Restorative class felt pointless until I got a real bolster. Lying flat on the floor isn't relaxing when your lower back is screaming — propping myself up changed everything about how I recover.

Sitting cross-legged on the floor for five minutes made my knees ache and my feet go numb. A proper cushion tilted my pelvis forward and suddenly I could actually focus on breathing instead of pain.

Low lunges and tabletop were brutal on my kneecaps against the thin mat. Adding a knee pad meant I could hold poses long enough to actually get something out of them.

My hands started sliding forward in downward dog about ten minutes into any session. A proper yoga towel gripped the mat and suddenly I was holding poses instead of slowly skiing forward.

Holding chaturanga for more than half a second was impossible until I started building arm strength off the mat. These bands made strength training something I could do while watching TV.

My old mat was so slippery I spent more energy gripping with my toes than actually doing yoga. Upgrading the mat surface was the single biggest difference in how stable every pose felt.

Jumping straight into yoga with cold muscles meant I spent half the class just trying to loosen up. Five minutes of rolling beforehand and my first downward dog actually felt open.

Savasana used to be me lying there with my eyes half open thinking about my grocery list. Blocking out light and adding weight over my eyes finally taught my nervous system to actually shut off.
