Big Sur is definitely worth a day trip if not one extra overnight. It’s beautiful and foresty. Road can be rough or closed so always check before heading that way

While the trail does have rope to keep lanes and there are always a lot if people, the magic of this area makes up for it. You can spot tons of albatross, seals, sea otters. Hang out on the beach, walk the trails. It’s a gorgeous area.
Point Lobos State Natural Reserve

The aquarium always feels special. It’s pricey but very cool and huge. The jellyfish are one of my favorite exhibits with how large it is and unique

If traveling with kids, this park is huge and so cool. There are even little paddle boats you can rent to go on the pond. Very fun area

Ok this one is a bit far, BUT it’s magical! Saw tons of condors, bats in the cage, amazing rock formations. It’s a big hike and not close but worth it if in the area for a while
