Cream, liquid and stick formulas. Best on bare or lightly covered skin - apply before powder and blend with fingers or a damp sponge for a lit-from-within flush.

Powders and multi-pan palettes. Wear alone or press over a cream blush to lock it in. Tap off the excess and build in layers - powder is much harder to sheer out once it is on.

Warmth and shape. Bronzer goes where the sun would hit - forehead, cheekbones, bridge of the nose. Contour goes in the hollows. Blend longer than you think you need to.

The steps either side of blush. Order that works for me: primer, base, cream blush, then powder to set. Skipping the primer is why cream blush disappears by lunch.

Pulling the cheek colour down to the lips is what makes a look feel finished. Match the undertone rather than the exact shade - cool blush, cool lip.

One eye product on the list, kept separate so it is easy to find.
