Here's what I watch, usually on YouTube or Roku, when I need to get away from it all.

Food
Sometimes it's not the stuff that pleases my palate that entertains or comforts me. It's the people doing the eating, or preparing the food.
Now if I want to feel full without touching a single bite, I just tune in to Adam Moran's main Youtube channel, Beard Meats Food. With over 5 and a half million subscribers and 1.8 billion views to his credit, this Leeds, England-born competitive eat...
Beard Meats Food
As someone who has a wee bit of an obsession with sushi, I cannot pass up the opportunity to watch what the contestants can whip up for Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto. This show is streamed on RoKu.
Morimoto's Sushi Master
I find this to be more unscripted (and enjoyable) to watch than Masterchef. It takes a lot of grit and determination to bake from scratch under the everpresent pressure of time — and every contestant's creation is unique!
The Great British Bake Off
Games/Pastimes
This Youtube channel explores the rise and fall of theme parks around the world (through its Expedition Extinct subchannel), as well as theme parks that are still alive and kicking (in its various other subchannels).
Expedition Theme Park
I have to give these contestants and master builders serious props for putting in as many as 9 HOURS on their creations. That's a lot to ask of your brain, body (neck, back, eyes, and feet!) – all in pursuit of the eventual brass ring of $100,000.

Humour & Movies
Laughter is the best medicine — especially in today’s crazy world.
A humorous take on everything that went wrong with some of the biggest movies ever made. The fast-paced, witty one-liners of the narrator always make me laugh, even though the language can be a little salty.

A retinue of celebs (usually 4-5, and that number excludes the guest musicians) pops up on Norton’s couch to enjoy some bubbly and share funny and sometimes shocking moments in front of the camera or behind the microphone. On YouTube and Roku.
The Graham Norton Show
Pets
I don’t have furbabies (or featherbabies) anymore — just birds and neighborhood cats who like to wander through the backyard. Still, it is a great de-stressor to watch them getting their fifteen seconds of fame.
I think of this Youtube channel as Pet Makeovers: Extreme Edition (note: there's also the Girl with the Dogs 2, also owned by the same Youtuber Vanessa de Prophetis). The befores and afters of this Niagara Falls, Ontario-based pet groomer's furry cha...

Travel
Michael Portillo takes the viewer to interesting parts of the United Kingdom by this time-honored transportation, to the accompaniment of an old travel guide. He often does so in bright, solid colored apparel, as well as his brand of humor and travel...
Great British Railway Journeys
This long-running travel show (which aired in 2000) is a particular favorite of mine. Helmed by Rick Steves, this Washington-based travel writer shares the history of the European cities while discoursing on local life, food, and pastimes. I love to ...

British globetrotter and Youtuber Will Davis takes his 1.3-million subscribers on extensive (and often lavish) transcontinental trips by plane, train, and cruise liner to various parts of the world. No one-night hotel stays for him; he has done 90-da...
Trek Trendy
British travel enthusiast and Youtuber Tim takes us to various hotels and accommodations around the world with very frank narratives of his stays and journeys. Sometimes he takes his family, and other times he goes solo.
